The A14 including the Orwell Bridge was closed due to a police incident.
Emergency services attended the scene of the incident on the major road on Friday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said a road closure had been put in place between the Wherstead and Nacton turn-offs.

There were long delays in the area with many motorists reporting being stuck for an hour.
The road reopened just after 5pm but National Highways warned the tailbacks would take some time to clear.
The nature of the incident currently remains unknown.
