The owners of a new Turkish restaurant opening in Ipswich have said they are "extremely excited" ahead of the grand opening.

Kervan Kitchen in Cardinal Park is hoping to open "within a few weeks" as the building has undergone a major refurbishment over the last few months.

Opening in the former Punch & Judy, the space has been left vacant for number of years before the Turkish chain came in to renovate the space.

This will be Kervan Kitchen's first Suffolk location and fourth branch in total - having three successful restaurants already in Essex.

Kervan Kitchen Restaurant Group was established in April 2018.

A spokesperson for Kervan Kitchen said: "We've chosen Ipswich as we thought it would be an amazing location to open a Kervan Kitchen, a true traditional Turkish restaurant that will not disappoint.

"We're extremely excited to open, with over 1,000-plus emails signed up on the email list waiting for our doors to open on our grand opening night, which is still yet to be confirmed."

On the Kervan Kitchen Ipswich website, it states the business is hoping to open "within the next few weeks".

The restaurant will serve traditional Turkish food and the space will boast a long bar area for customers to order drinks from.

This will be a welcome and long-awaited addition to Cardinal Park, with the first news of the opening of Kervan Kitchen coming in January.

Signs were then spotted on the entrances to Cardinal Park in March before extensive work started inside and outside the building, with signs most recently placed in June, replacing the Punch & Judy artwork at the venue.

An exact opening date is to be announced, with thousands seemingly eagerly awaiting a date to go and try out Ipswich's newest restaurant.
