One of the UK's biggest tile suppliers is shutting down shops immediately after falling into administration, with the Ipswich store among the closures.

CTD Tiles is shutting its Ipswich branch immediately after the company fell into administration.

Fifty-six stores were closed in total, with 30 others and two distribution sites being bought by rival Topps Group.

Administrators of the business said that 268 workers were made redundant after the collapse.

The Ipswich shop has been open for nearly 40 years, making up one of 86 stores across the country.

Other nearby shops affected by the news are the Chelmsford and Colchester branches, which are also shutting down immediately.

The Fakenham and Norwich stores have been bought by Topps Tiles and will remain open under a new name.
