Budget supermarket chain Aldi has announced it will be scrapping its click-and-collect service at its Suffolk stores.

The service was first launched in five stores across the county in 2022.

The shops that trialed the new service were its Donald Mackintosh Way branch in Ipswich, Martlesham Heath, Haverhill, Lowestoft and Newmarket stores.

Customers were able to order from a full range of groceries online and then collect them in pre-booked one-hour slots from the Supermarkets costing them an additional £4.99.

A spokesman for Aldi said: "At Aldi, our focus is on providing customers with high-quality products at the lowest possible prices.

"One of the ways we keep our prices low for customers is by running the most efficient supermarket business in Britain.

"As a result, we’ve made the decision to bring our click & collect service to an end so we can focus on doing just that.”
