A cocktail bar in Ipswich's Tacket Street has had its alcohol licence and opening hours extended following an approval of a premises licence variation from the borough council.

Ipswich Borough Council has now approved the new licence for Bloom Lounge, which will see the bar be allowed to play music, serve alcohol and stay open until later on Friday and Saturday nights.

The licence allows the venue to play recorded and live music, sell alcohol and stay open until 1.30am on Friday evenings and until 2.30am on Saturday evenings.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights there will also be no less than two registered door staff at the premises from 9pm and at least one of these must be female, planning documents have said.

The number of door staff may increase if there are activities on the site that require more people on duty.

Also in Tacket Street, Supper Club has been granted a licence to stay open later and serve alcohol until as late as 4am on Friday and Saturday evenings.
