£5k reward to locate Ipswich hospital escapee Daryl Taylor

Daryl Taylor, 33, from Ipswich, escaped from police while at Ipswich Hospital receiving treatment on Sunday night.

Taylor was arrested after being wanted on recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence and charged on Sunday, August 11, with seven sexual offences.

Crimestoppers UK has issued a reward of up to £5,000 for information about Taylor's whereabouts.

After his arrest on Sunday, August 11, Taylor required medical attention and was taken to Ipswich Hospital by police officers where he absconded just after 10pm.

Taylor is described as white, approximately 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build, with short brown hair and a beard. He has tattoos on his face, neck, arms and legs.

When he absconded from the hospital, he was wearing a black and grey North Face jumper and matching jogging bottoms and black Adidas sliders.

The items of clothing he escaped in could have been worn over his police custody clothing: white t-shirt with a black cross on the back, grey shorts and white socks.

The reward will only be payable for information passed directly to Crimestoppers and not to the police. A reward code must be asked for when calling the charity on 0800 555 111.

Those using the online form anonymously, must use the 'keeping in contact’ facility and request a reward code on initial contact.

The reward is available until November 6 this year.

Four people – a man and three women – were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and taken into police custody for questioning.

Superintendent Andy Martin issued a further plea for the public's help on Tuesday.

He said: "We are really appealing to members of the public to provide any information they have got. He is a really well-known individual with a lot of people who may know where he may be hiding. 

"He is wanted for prison recall and to go to court for a number of outstanding offences, and so it is for all of us collectively to support that manhunt and bring him to justice. 

"People may see some increased police activity as a result of the manhunt some of that will be local to places he is known to visit, like Hollesley Bay Prison and Ipswich. However, this may also be further afield as we will be reacting to intelligence we have available. 

"It is our belief that Daryl's attentions by and large is to evade capture, so it is likely that he will be doing everything he can to evade police rather than commit further crimes. 

"However, we never recommend to the public that they approach someone we are seeking. Instead they should call police and we can answer that call and act on it accordingly."
