Two massive displays backing the Blues have been revealed ahead of Ipswich Town's triumphant return to the Premier League.

A new banner created by Ipswich Central is now on display at the Town Hall ahead of Town's first top flight game in 22 years on Saturday, August 17, against Liverpool.

It says: "We shared the glory, we've felt the pain, we're right behind you, we are back again!"

The banner echoes one that was held up by fans when Town were relegated at the end of the 2001/02 season.

Lee Walker, CEO of Ipswich Central, said: "We're using this as our launch image for a campaign which works with businesses and gives the public the opportunity to get involved.

"The campaign showcases the pride in our town with the football club at the heart of our community and also showcasing our businesses in a way that's fun and shows a really positive side to them.

"The football club being in the Premier League means that Ipswich has the opportunity to be showcased to a national and global TV audience.

"It's a real global opportunity and we want to utilise that and showcase what Ipswich has to offer.

"We have done the first set of business portraits and photographs and they are available now and we will release more over the coming weeks.

"We're also giving fans the opportunity to write to us and explain why they should be given a disposable camera so they can take pictures of their journey with the town and the club over the season.

"This will all culminate in an exhibition of the amazing journey Ipswich has had over the year in the town centre, showcasing the journey we have all been on."

Mr Walker, who is an Ipswich Town fan himself, was 11 when Town were last in the Premier League and used to attend regular matches with his dad.

Elsewhere in the town, a large mural is going up depicting the faces of Harry Clarke, Sam Morsy, Conor Chaplin and Kieran McKenna.

The mural also has landmarks in Ipswich including Portman Road, the Town Hall and St Mary le Tower, the soon to be Ipswich Minster.

St Mary le Tower's Reverend Tom Mumford said: "As Vicar of our soon-to-be Minster, and a season ticket holder of Portman Road, I am absolutely chuffed to bits that our iconic building has been recognised in this amazing mural.

"The church has played a central part in the life of the town for over 1,000 years and continues to do so to this day.

"I look forward to cheering on the Super Blues in that other iconic building in the mural, Portman Road stadium, on Saturday lunch time."

The mural, which can be seen at the bottom of Barrack Lane, is set to be completed on Friday and will stay up for at least a month.

It has been organised by TNT Sports' Only Sport Can Do This campaign.
