A man suffered facial injuries that required hospital treatment after being assaulted in an Ipswich street.
Emergency services were called to Jamestown Boulevard, just off Hawes Street, at about 9.30pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the victim has reported that he walked to the road when he was hit on the head, causing an injury to his face.
The spokesman confirmed that the incident was not a stabbing.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.
"A man was transported to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment."
A number of emergency service vehicles were spotted at the scene.
