Suffolk residents are in with the chance to meet a much-loved Oscar winning author at an exclusive book signing event.

Charlie Mackesy, the writer behind 2019 hit The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse which has warmed the hearts of millions, is set to appear at Woodbridge Library for a special book signing event.

On Friday, August 23 from 3pm, Mr Mackesy will be signing copies of his bestseller and funds raised through ticket prices will go to Suffolk Libraries to support their work across the county.

The artist, illustrator and author started his career as a cartoonist for The Spectator before he became a book illustrator for Oxford University Press.

Award-winning work by Mr Mackesy, who lives between Brixton in London and Suffolk along with his dog, Barney, has featured in books, galleries and public spaces across the globe.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse was published in October 2019.

It holds the record for the most consecutive weeks in the Sunday Times Non-Fiction Chart across all formats.

It is also the longest running Sunday Times Non-Fiction Number One of all time and won the 2019 Barnes & Noble Book of the Year award and the 2019 Waterstones Book of the Year award.

Woodbridge Books are supporting the signing event and copies of the book will be available to purchase on the day.

Tickets for this event are £5 each, with all proceeds going to Suffolk Libraries, and can be purchased on the Suffolk Libraries website.

In 2023, Mr Mackesy committed to helping raise £70,000 to buy and transform a field into a community space in Bramfield, near Halesworth.

Later the same year he turned on the Christmas lights in Southwold and in February of this year he officially opened a new nursery in Holton.
