A man from Ipswich has been found guilty of assaulting a police officer.
On Thursday afternoon, a jury returned a unanimous verdict at Ipswich Crown Court, finding Lenny Duberry guilty of assaulting an emergency worker.
The 40-year-old had denied striking PC Ford on March 2, 2022, after officers came to investigate an unrelated matter of domestic violence.
Duberry, of Heather Avenue, Ipswich, was inside his motorhome when police came to investigate a nearby property.
Not having found their suspect, PC Ford had turned off his body worn camera, before noticing the door of the motorhome banging in the wind.
He went to investigate, and said Duberry burst out from the motorhome. When PC Ford put a hand on his shoulder, Duberry hit him in the eye with the back of his hand.
Duberry maintained throughout the trial that he asked officers multiple times what they wanted, and that he did not intend to strike PC Ford.
However, the jury found him unanimously guilty. Duberry is expected to be sentenced on October 3.
