Suffolk County Council has confirmed that Derby Road, Tomline Road, and St Matthew's Street in Ipswich will be closed on Sunday, August 11 and Sunday, August 18 for the movement of the abnormal loads.

There will also be temporary parking restrictions in place along Cumberland Street, Norwich Road, Bury Road, St Helen's Street, Grove Lane, Fore Street, Duke Street and Cliff Road and a suspension of any double yellow lines will be in place along the route.

The movement of the two abnormal loads, which is being carried out by Allelys Haulage, Suffolk Highways, National Highways and Suffolk police, will involve moving a 356-tonne generator, which is 81m long and will leave Ipswich docks at about 6am on Sunday, August 11.

A 164-tonne electrical transformer, which is 71m long, will leave Ipswich docks at 6am on Sunday, August 18.

A Suffolk police-enforced rolling roadblock will also take place on the A14 eastbound between 10am and 10.30am.

Meanwhile, the A140 is expected to be closed from between 11am and 6pm.

Paul West, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for Ipswich, operational highways and flooding, said: "Our teams continue to support the moving of abnormal loads through the county, ensuring these are done safely and with minimum impact on residents.

"Thank you to all those who have worked hard on this complex operation to ensure it runs smoothly."

He added: "Whilst the restrictions and road closures are in place, I encourage road users to avoid the area where possible to allow the load to travel through safely."
