A pub in Ipswich has unveiled its new garden bar which took two months to build and cost more than £200,000.

The Station Hotel in Ipswich, opposite the railway station in Burrell Road, has shared sneak peeks of its new garden bar.

An official grand opening is happening on Saturday, August 10 for Ipswich Town's final friendly against OGC Nice.

The venue, which is the dedicated away fan pub for Ipswich Town games, has undergone the work since the end of the Championship season in May.

James Langan, owner of The Station Hotel, said the plans had been on the cards since Town went up to the Championship.

He said: "Now Town have gone to the Premier League, we know that there will be a lot more away fans coming to the town every other matchday.

"We are the only away pub in the town, so a lot of them are going to come straight off the train and come to us. We could have around 1,500 fans every Town home game so we need to accommodate for all of them.

"Greene King has heavily invested in doing the bar, and it has been deliberately designed to serve quickly.

"This will be a massive game-changer for not only us but everyone in the town.

"The pub will be open all day so away fans will have somewhere to go before and after the games rather than milling with home fans so we are helping the police out as best we can."

As well as the new outside bar at The Station Hotel, Mr Langan's other pub he runs in the town, The Falcon, has increased its taps at the bar and will also start donating 25p from every pint to the Ipswich Town Foundation.
