A man from Bramford was told to give up drinking for four months after being caught driving while more than twice the limit.

Lewis Santer, of Gippingstone Road in the village, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich facing charges of driving whilst disqualified and driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit.

The 25-year-old was stopped by officers on February 17 this year as he drove along Loraine Way in Bramford.

When breathalysed, the test showed 84 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit for driving is 35 microgrammes.

Santer pleaded guilty to both charges.

He was handed a community order, which will end in September next year. The order required Santer to abstain from alcohol for 120 days. He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was disqualified from driving for 36 months. He will have the option to complete a driving course which would reduce this ban by 36 weeks.
