A talented young hockey player has been selected for a prestigious regional squad.
Hugo Mayes, who attends Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, has been chosen to join the Anglian Eagles’.
Hugo has been working hard over the last eight years and was able to show his skills during challenging selection trials, greatly aided by his training with the Ipswich Hockey Club.
The year eight pupil said: "I enjoy how fast and smooth-flowing the game is, along with the skill involved.

"RHS has helped me via the TPG training sessions that focus on enhancing the muscles used for the specific sport.
"My hockey role model is Nick Bandurak who plays as a forward for Holcombe and the England and Great Britain national teams; I like watching him play, as he is always in the right place at the right time.”
Director of sport at Royal Hospital School, Nick Platt, said: “This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Hugo's dedication, skill, and passion for the sport.
"We are incredibly proud of him and confident that he will continue to excel and represent our school with distinction.
"Hugo's selection is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiration to his peers, demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work and commitment.

"We look forward to supporting him in his journey with the Anglian Eagles and celebrating his future successes."
He is the latest pupil from Royal Hospital School to see sporting success.
The girls’ under-15s A cricket squad recently celebrated a superb season which saw them reach the County Cup for the first time.
Mr Platt, said: "This season has been incredible for our girls’ U15A cricket squad.
"Their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship have been exemplary, and we are immensely proud of their achievements.
"Playing such great cricket has seen them beat their local rivals and reach the County Cup final for the first time, which is testament to their hard work and determination.
