Vans have been spotted at the site of a former historic warehouse as work begins to create a new waterfront restaurant.
In November last year, plans were announced for the unused Burton Son and Sanders warehouse on St Peters Wharf to be converted into a bar and cafe run by Loungers UK.
Ipswich Borough Council approved the plans in March, as planning officers said due to the site being vacant for a "significant period of time" the change of use would have a "positive impact upon the area".
On Wednesday, vans were spotted moving into the area and setting up in front of the building and starting their work.
Once complete the new site, will be open all day and every day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks.
It is set to open in October this year.
Loungers UK Limited already operates more than 230 sites across the country through two brands, The Lounges and The Cosy Clubs, which serve food and alcohol on the premises.
Previously Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, said: "We hope our family-friendly environment and top-notch food and drink offering will prove popular with local residents.
"We're passionate about integrating genuinely into the communities we serve so we're looking forward to meeting everyone and to playing our part at the heart of Ipswich's food and drink scene."
In December, council Leader Neil MacDonald said that the bar would be a great inclusion to St Peter's Warf and a nice way to bring the historic Burtons building back in use.
He added: “This unique Lounge continues the redevelopment of Ipswich Waterfront, making St Peter’s Wharf a welcoming entrance to Ipswich Waterfront, which is a key part of our commitment to regenerating Ipswich into a vibrant destination for eating, drinking, education, and entertainment.
