A new café serving "beautiful coffee made with passion" in the premises of a former newsagent has confirmed it is opening.

Barlas Coffee will open at the former Chantry News premises in Hawthorn Drive at 9am on Thursday.

With a focus on artisan coffee and freshly roasted beans, the management of the café says it is looking forward to serving customers in the Chantry area.

The new cafe will also serve a range of paninis, burgers and omelettes alongside refreshing ice creams and slushies.

The business added: "We are really excited and we can't wait to open and start serving people in Chantry.

It said: "We have been working as baristas for over 11 years and teaching for several years during that time and are very passionate about coffee. People in the area can visit tomorrow and enjoy some beautiful coffee made with passion."

Chantry News, which previously operated the premises, closed after John Beecroft, the manager and a familiar face of the shop, became ill and was no longer able to look after shop.
