A man is in hospital after a serious assault in an Ipswich park.

Officers were called to Christchurch Park on Monday evening following reports of a serious assault. 

A spokesman for Suffolk police said one man is currently being treated in hospital. 

A crime scene was put in place in the park while police carry out investigations. 

"Officers say this was a targeted assault and there is no wider threat to the community," the spokesman added. 

The extent of the man's injuries are not yet known at this time.
