A motorcyclist from Martlesham has been ordered to pay £600 after being caught riding at 110 miles per hour.

Andrew Rowland, of Westland, Martlesham Heath, was observed by a speed camera as he drove his Honda motorcycle along the A14 at Creeting St Peter in Suffolk on July 7 last year.

The 40-year-old was driving at 110 miles per hour, 40 miles above the speed limit of 70 miles per hour.

Rowland appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich in March. He pleaded guilty to the offence of speeding, and was fined £350.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge towards victims’ services of £140 and court costs of £110, bringing the total Rowland will have to pay to £600.

Rowland’s driving licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.

The case was dealt with by the single justice procedure, which deals with more minor cases which are not heard before a crown court.
