Summer is here and who doesn't love a barbecue, especially when it's bottomless?
Three Wise Monkeys in Lloyds Avenue in Ipswich will launch its bottomless BBQ on August 1, where people can have as much as they can stomach for an hour.
We went along to the taster evening to see what it was like.
Firstly the service was great. As soon as I walked in we were shown to our table and offered drinks.
The options and variety of food for diners became a bit overwhelming all because there was so much to choose from.
First the sides were brought to the table. These were served in their own dishes and were left on the table throughout the evening, and refilled when needed.
They include coleslaw, chips, flavoured rice, mac n cheese with bacon and corn on the cob which had a BBQ seasoning on it.
All the sides were delicious, but between my friends and I, it was agreed the mac n cheese was a standout.
It was creamy, served very hot, which sometimes isn't the case with mac n cheese, and it had big chunks of bacon in it.
Another side option, but these weren't left on the table, were the Texas Twinkies.
These are cream cheese-filled jalapeno rolls which is wrapped in bacon.
My friends said these were light and tasty, the smoky bacon was cooked beautifully and the jalapeno wasn't too overpowering, helped by the cream cheese which took the edge off the heat.
The meats were brought around by the staff, who offered it out and gave you however much you wanted of it.
Starting with the beef brisket. This was my personal favourite meat. It was cooked to perfection, so much so that when you stabbed it with the fork, it fell apart because it was so tender.
It had a smoky flavour to it and was served very warm when it came round.
BBQ ribs were also on the menu, and these were a friend's favourite, so much so that the chef cooked some more specifically for her.
They were glazed in a lovely BBQ sauce and fell right off the bone so there was no excess meat hanging on.
We were then offered pulled pork which was flavoured with a cumin spice to give it a subtle curry flavour.
This was also cooked brilliantly and was mixed in well with chillies to give it more of a kick than other dishes.
With a mountain of food building up on the plate, we were then offered BBQ glazed pork belly. This was tender and the bites were smothered in the BBQ sauce. This gave a bit of a sickly taste, however.
Then the chicken wings and thighs came round. We were very much overwhelmed by the amount of food.
Both of these were seasoned well so they had a nice BBQ taste to them and again, cooked brilliantly so it wasn't too much hassle to get the chicken off the bone.
We decided that between the four of us that firstly, we needed bigger plates because a mountain of bones had formed, secondly, there should be some tooth picks available, but also that we thought the BBQ ribs, beef brisket and the pulled pork were our favourites.
If that wasn't enough, we had a choice of dessert - banana and chocolate bread, Bailey's and white chocolate cheesecake or a cherry bakewell tart.
All my friends got the Bailey's and white chocolate cheesecake. They said that it was sweet and soft, they loved the texture, and the ice cream and raspberries that accompanied worked together well with the cheesecake.
I had the banana and chocolate bread. This was served warm with ice cream and was really lovely.
The bread was cooked so it wasn't stodgy but not over done so it was hard and chewy either.
All in all, the Three Wise Monkey's bottomless BBQ is definitely worth the money. You get so much food and you really do eat until you are stuffed.
The bottomless BBQ starts from August 1 and will run Thursday to Sunday.
The hour sittings cost £22 on Thursday and Sunday, £25 on Friday and Saturday and costs £12 for children aged ten.
