Ipswich's best and worst GP surgeries according to patient reviews have been revealed following a recent national survey. 

The results of the latest IPSOS Mori/NHS England national GP patient survey has shown Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice in Hadleigh's Market Place was the favourite both across the county and in the Ipswich area.

An impressive 94% of those surveyed felt they had an overall positive experience at the surgery, compared to just 3.9% who had a negative experience.

Framfield House Surgery in Ipswich Road, Woodbridge, had a 91% positive rating, while Bildeston Health Centre had 89.3% and Ivry Street Medical Practice in Ipswich had 89%.

Other Ipswich surgeries where overwhelmingly positive experiences were recorded included Hawthorn Drive Surgery (87%), Barrack Lane Medical Centre (79.8%), Two Rivers Medical Centre (79.6%), The Derby Road Practice (78.8%), Holbrook and Shotley practice (78%) and Orchard Medical (77.9%).

However, at the other end of the spectrum, Essex University Partnership NHS Trust received just 39% positive responses, with 56.9% negative. 

Cardinal Medical Practice in Ipswich had a 57.1% positive response, while Burlington Primary Care had a 62.7% positive response. 

The results of the IPSOS Mori/NHS England survey are based on the responses of 10,693 patients who completed a questionnaire.

According to Suffolk and North East Essex ICB (SNEE), the results of the survey show that 77% of those surveyed in the SNEE area are satisfied overall with their experience at their GP practice. 

Lisa Nobes, Chief Nurse, NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, said: “Despite the ever-increasing demand for primary care services it is heartening that more than three-quarters of patients report a good overall level of satisfaction.

“GP practices are staffed with a wide range of healthcare professionals, and all of them work incredibly hard and are doing their best for patients.

“We do know however that people’s experiences differ across the patch which is why our focus continues to be on enhancing primary care services and implementing further improvement.”
