Frustrated neighbours feel "like a left-behind crime area" as they call for action to deal with its overflowing bins.

At Mountbatten Court, off Rendlesham Road, in Ipswich, residents say they are tired of the sight of rubbish falling out of the bins and cluttering the area.

The court has around 50 homes, which are served by just four general waste bins and four recycled waste bins.

Those living there are now pleading with Ipswich Borough Council to add extra bins as they "cannot live with the stink".

Will Benson said: "We are constantly seen as sort of a derelict part of the town.

"It's like we are a left behind crime area, since the number of reports from our neighbourhood.

"I just wish the council would add more bins and not forget about us."

A borough council spokesperson said: “All communal bins and bin locations are calculated on a 'resident to litre' calculation which is to ensure consistency across the Borough.

"If the residents at Mountbatten Court feel they should have more capacity available to them, they should contact the Council online through my.ipswich.gov.uk or by phoning 01473 432000, and our Waste & Refuse team will complete a review.”

John Bray added to Mr Benson's concerns and said: "We feel like an overlooked area of town that no one not even the council is taking seriously.

"We can't live with this stink that this rubbish produces and all we want is extra bins to be added here so that we can get rid of our rubbish properly."

"Eight bins for 50 homes, this is just not enough, is it?" he added.

"They get filled up almost as soon as the council comes to collect the waste. If they add just a few more, it could be made so much better."
