A homeowner in Ipswich has submitted plans to expand two houses of multiple occupancy (HMOs).
Applicant John Latham with agent Jamie Cundall have applied to expand two HMOs, one in Norwich Road and another in Felixstowe Road, by one bed each.
In applications that were sent to Ipswich Borough Council, it was said six people currently occupy both homes.
The home in Felixstowe Road is a one-storey house and the lounge on the ground floor is set to be converted into the extra bedroom.
The Norwich Road home will similarly convert the lounge on the ground floor into an extra bedroom.
Both homes also have four parking bays and the applicant does not plan to add any extra spaces.
The borough council has tried to crack down on HMOs by introducing a rule which states that every HMO needs to be approved by the council.
However, in both these cases since the HMO was already approved the expansion will not be held the same level of scrutiny by the council.
