A care home is staging its own Olympics later this month to bring some Parisian flair to Ipswich.

Prince George House, part of Care UK, is hosting The Big Care UK Sports Day, extending an open invitation to the community.

This initiative has more than 130 Care UK homes hosting similar events across the UK to provide a window into care home life.

Individuals, families or team members can partake in an array of games, like egg-and-spoon races, tug of war and relay races.

The residents and visitors bold enough to participate can win gold medals at the event, held at 2pm on Thursday, July 25.

The day promises to be filled with light-hearted fun and games, with light refreshments available for players and spectators alike.

The home manager at Ravenwood's Prince George House, Luminita Triff said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our own sporting celebrations."

“We are part of a strong community here in Ipswich, and days like this are a fantastic way of bringing us all together for a little healthy competition and to celebrate this year’s summer of sport, all while showcasing exactly what life is like here at Prince George House."

The function aims to offer laughter and enjoyment for all involved and provides an excellent chance for residents to meet new people, as well as reconnect with familiar faces.
