Ipswich Music Day 2024 attracts over 10,000 spectators

Ipswich Music Day was held on July 7, with performers taking to six stages across the park.

Thousands of people enjoyed music, entertainment, food, drink and fairground rides despite Ipswich experiencing downpours, sun, thunder, lightning and a double rainbow towards the end of the day.

Band members, fans and families said they were "buzzing", "elated" and "excited" to be at the UK's largest free one-day music festival.

Councillor Jane Riley, Ipswich Borough Council portfolio holder for culture and customers, says: "Sunday’s downpours didn’t dampen the spirits of an audience of more than 10,000 who came along to enjoy Ipswich Music Day.

"It’s one of the biggest days in the events calendar for Ipswich Borough Council, as well as our co-sponsors and everyone who makes it happen each year, so we’re delighted that those who braved the unseasonable weather still had a wonderful time.

"Clearly, they were very dedicated to enjoying the festival atmosphere and seeing the best of our local music talent performing live.

"We say a big thank you to all the attendees and to the great line-up of artists who entertained throughout the day.

"Credit also goes to our teams who work so hard on Ipswich Music Day including Events, Cleansing, Parks and Stage Security, together with the suppliers who ran food concessions, bars and other on-site attractions as planned. 

"We are now looking forward to returning to Christchurch Park for Global Rhythm this Saturday, July 13, and hoping for much more favourable weather conditions."

This year's festival was the 34th edition of local and national talent performing to entertain the thousands, with Suffolk star Ed Sheeran also previously performing at the festival in the early noughties.
