A girls' cricket team from Ipswich School has bagged two national titles consecutively.
In a history-making match, this team became the first schoolgirl group to play on Lord's Cricket Ground sacred square, dethroning Bradfield College with a victory by four wickets and thus being named the national under-18 100 ball champions.
Just a few days later, against Epsom College, the girls came out victorious by 58 runs in the final of the School Sport magazine T20 competition in Southampton.
The successful year was crowned by another two wins last year: the under-17 and under-18 T20 titles, bringing their sum total to four national championships.
Hailing their winning streak, Ipswich School headmaster Nicholas Weaver said: "They have won two National Championships, defying the odds at times with a 'never-give-up' attitude, a high degree of skill honed through hours of practice, and a joyful camaraderie that makes them a delight to watch and to spend time with."
Nicky Boje, the head of cricket at the school, said: "The way the girls performed in the finals is all down to their hard work and determination to succeed."
