The inquest into the death of an Ipswich man who went missing last December following a Christmas party has officially been opened.

Suffolk Coroners Court opened proceedings into the death of Julian De Bono on Friday, June 21.

Mr De Bono went missing on Sunday, December 10 2023 after attending a work Christmas party.

The 63-year-old was last seen on CCTV in Yarmouth Road at around 1.45am in the morning on December 10.

The court heard how extensive searches were undertaken to find Mr De Bono, including a specialist underwater team who searched the River Gipping.

The inquest opening also heard that a body was pulled from the river on December 16 at 3.10pm.

Following formal identification, the court heard the body was identified as Mr De Bono by his spouse.

A post-mortem was conducted on December 18.

Mr De Bono's inquest was adjourned and is expected to resume on August 19.
