A house on Spring Road in Ipswich could soon be transformed into a children’s home, according to new plans.
Proposals have been submitted which suggest converting a four-bedroom house to a residential home for children.
The application has been submitted by The Care Advantage Ltd, which has residential homes for children and seniors around the country.
According to their website, the organisation strives to make its premises a real home for the people who live there.
According to a planning statement prepared by Cityscape PA, the proposed home would provide care for up to three young people requiring care to enable them to develop family living, independence and other social skills.
The new home would be regulated by Ofsted and will also have one live-in carer helping the children at all times.
The site would aim to ensure the children can comfortably pursue their education, and be able to receive employment opportunities.
Applicants also say that they will try to teach the children decision-making skills and give them a level of autonomy by giving them a personal allowance to carry out their food shopping and other expenses.
They added that the purpose of the site is to "ensure that they are supported to enjoy their experiences and develop their self-confidence and to be prepared for their future independent living".
The application stated: "The children/young adults and the live-in carer would live as a single-family unit.
"The living environment would therefore reflect the home environment of a family so as to provide the children/young adults with an appropriate, positive, and supportive setting to live in."
