Town boss Kieran McKenna spotted at Framlingham sweet shop

For Simpson’s Sweets & Milkshakes, in Framlingham, Monday was meant to be just another day, but when Town boss, Kieran McKenna, entered the premises with his family, they were gobsmacked.

Shop manager, Hannah Barton, said: "He was really polite and nice and just so happy to talk to us."

The sweet shop had recently launched its new Premier League football-themed sweet jars with colour-coordinated sweets, so they realised this was a great opportunity to show the Town manager their new product.

McKenna was apparently delighted by the sweet jars and said "these are amazing" before happily posing with the product in front of the shop.

The shop since has posted the news of McKenna's visit on social media and said they were "delighted" to see him.

Ms Barton said she congratulated the manager on his achievements with Ipswich Town before he continued his day with his family.

Simpson’s Sweets & Milkshake opened in 2021 and sells a variety of products including ice cream, sweets, milkshakes, sandwiches and drinks.

The Ipswich Town manager signed a four-year deal on May 30 to keep him at the club until 2028.

He said: “I am so happy to have committed my future to taking the next step with Ipswich Town and am really excited for what’s ahead as we continue this journey together.”

McKenna, 38, guided Ipswich to a second successive promotion this season and had been linked with Brighton, Chelsea and Manchester United after taking the Suffolk club into the top flight.

Since taking over as manager the team has earned 194 points and two automatic promotions.
