A major regional retail chain has launched its first Woodbridge travel branch.

East of England Co-op - which has its headquarters at Wherstead, Ipswich - has launched the branch inside its Hamblin Walk Food store.

The independent travel agent offers a wide range of holidays from beach escapes to city breaks and impartial advice on holiday bookings, travel insurance, currency exchange and guidance on destinations for those with health requirements.

The opening day was busy, said travel branch manager Amanda Lucas, who is supported by travel consultants Lillian Shaw and Lucy Austin.

Bookings will benefit from dividend points at the branch which is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

“It was wonderful to see local faces popping in to chat ahead of the busy holiday season," said Amanda.

"Woodbridge has a proud community and being on the doorstep of local landmarks like Sutton Hoo, is no stranger to holidaymakers.

“I’ve been in the travel industry for over three decades and I cannot wait to be able to share our travel services, advice and support with the people of Woodbridge.

"Wherever you want to go and whatever you want to do, we are your one-stop-shop for unforgettable holidays."

The business was partnered with a "huge range" of holiday suppliers, she said.

The travel branch is ABTA registered to provide additional protection for holidaymakers when booking, alongside a commitment to high quality service through its Code of Conduct.
