A new date for roadworks in a Suffolk resort have yet to be decided after original plans to carry out the work over the summer had sparked fears of traffic chaos.
The busy Candlet Road in Felixstowe was supposed to close for an eight week period between May and July to enable a roundabout to be created to serve a Bloor Homes development of 368 homes.
However, in April the EADT revealed the closure was instead earmarked for a period from September to November after fears were raised there would be congestion in the town during the busiest time of the year for tourists.

However, a Bloor Homes spokesperson said no alternative dates had yet been set for the project.
She said: "We can confirm that the roadworks will not take place over the summer holidays and that Bloor Homes is working both with Felixstowe Town Council and East Suffolk Council to agree a suitable time for them to take place."
In March, the then Felixstowe mayor Seamus Bennett described the original closure plan as "awful" and feared there would be congestion as tourists arrived for the summer.

The closure dates were also close to the school May half-term break and the Suffolk Show, he said.

During the closure, traffic will have to use alternative routes, potentially along the Dock Spur road and Langer Road or through the Trimley villages.
