It will be lights, camera, action this weekend in one Suffolk village which is hosting a movie-themed trail for visitors.

The Holbrook community is getting together to build a trail based on children's films that they and their families love all in aid of charity.

The trial was last held in 2022 and this year they aim to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The event will take place on June 8 and 9 and will be accompanied by ten gardens set up for the public to visit, with one including a model train display.

Refreshments will be available at the Holbrook Pre-School, All Saints Church and the Methodist Chapel.

Joy Squirrell, one of the organisers, said:  “They [the trails] brighten up our village, creating a happy feeling, and everyone is getting in the community spirit once again, using their imagination to depict and celebrate a film they and their family love.

“We wanted to do it for a children’s charity and that’s why we decided to raise money for EACH.

“It’s a wonderful cause that does so much work in our area to support families and care for children and young people.”

Visitors can donate to EACH or St Elizabeth Hospice through cash or QR codes available at the event.

The charity delivers life-long support to bereaved and non-bereaved families in Suffolk, through physical therapy, nursing care and practical home help, and is reliant on public donations to keep their operations going.

EACH senior community fundraiser Anna Bruce said: “It’s a brilliant idea for a fundraiser and definitely something a bit different.

“I can imagine it takes a lot of organisation to pull something like this together, so massive thanks to everyone for their hard work.

“We look forward to seeing the pictures and hearing all about it.”
