Plans to open a new cash and carry at the Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate in Ipswich have been received by the council.

A proposal was submitted to Ipswich Borough Council which suggest converting a warehouse at the industrial estate in Arkwright Road, Ipswich, into a cash and carry.

The use of the building is currently marked as ‘general industry’, while the proposal suggests earmarking it for storage and retail.

A supporting statement was prepared by Fusion 13 planning consultants.

It explained: “The business will only be open to business customers only and not to the general public.”

It continued: “The proposal is within the existing building space and boundary and there would be no changes to the external appearance of the building.

"The layout has been designed to  use the existing doorways with the internal space fitted out with shelving units to divide the space.

“The existing vehicular access from Arkwright Road will be retained. The proposal allows for 16 car parking spaces on site along with a waste collection point.”

Ipswich Borough Council will make its decision in due course.
