The winners of a competition to play at Suffolk’s biggest multi-venue music festival have been announced.
There are 21 artists who will be playing across venues including the Cornhill stage over the weekend of Friday June 14 and Saturday, June 15 as part of Brighten The Corners.
The festival has now announced five regional additions to the line up as well as 16 winners through its apply to play scheme.
Organisers had to whittle down the final selection after receiving more than 300 applicants spanning many genres.
Among them are Esme Emerson, a British-Chinese sibling duo writing songs out of their family home in Suffolk.
Drawing comparisons to Big Thief and Slow Pulp, their music is characterised by gentle melodies and they’ll be playing at St Stephen’s Church on Saturday 15th June.
On Friday 14, Juliet will be playing on the Cornhill stage delivering songs with relaxed beats.
Norwich rapper and producer $ebbuku, will be playing on Friday June 14 at the Cornhill and his performance is the result of him winning the NMG Awards ‘Artist Development Prize’.
The day after Brown Horse, a Norwich-based country rock band will be playing at The Baths.
Their style offers 90s alternative rock with the folk and country sounds of the 70s.
Arthur Black, the lead singer of a 4 piece up and coming band based in Norwich, will be playing at St Stephen’s Church on Friday 14.
They are influenced by the likes of Portishead, Big Thief and The Cranberries.
Others playing on the Cornhill stage on the Friday include Ipswich-based acoustic singer-songwriter sophiethegreat, alternative R&B / hip-hop act Ryski, alternative indie singer-songwriter from Colchester Emma Sampson, dreampop solo act Fran Pitcher, slowcore band Eve’s Delight, Norwich based indie pop band Chest, and indie rock band from Framlingham ikarus.
Saturday will see hip-hop act from Ipswich EL-Emcee, local dreamcore artist Teyah, solo rap/pop artist Ej-Chubz, alt-indie band from Colchester Gasoline Green, alt-punk pianist Generation Feral, Bury St Edmunds’ electronic dreampop duo Amethysts, Ipswich rapper Westy, alternative indie band Headcheck from BSE and rap, grime and trap artist Xidontlie.
