A homeless man has admitted he set fire near an Ipswich shopping centre.
Mark Mowles, 51, of Fore Street, Ipswich, pleaded guilty at Suffolk Magistrates' Court to an arson he committed on March 19 outside the Sailmakers Shopping Centre in Tavern Street.
The court heard from prosecutor Collette Harper who said he started the fire at 3.30pm at the entrance of the centre and then began piling on combustible materials.
A glass pane smashed, and the doorframe was damaged.
Mowles has 146 previous offences the court heard and is to be sentenced on June 19.
