Train passengers were facing delays after a vehicle hit a bridge.

Greater Anglia was alerted to the incident just before 10.30am after receiving reports of a collision involving a bridge in Needham Market.

The bridge in Coddenham Road has been named as one of the most bashed bridges in Britain by Network Rail, claiming the top spot in 2021.

Greater Anglia said trains in both directions were running at a slower and safer speed over the bridge while teams from Network Rail attended the incident.

The affected lines included the main Norwich to London Liverpool Street as well as trains from Ipswich to Peterborough and Cambridge.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: "Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.

"Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled."

Disruption has now ended and trains are no longer delayed.
