An 83-year-old has been ordered to pay out more than £400 and banned from the roads after driving at 37mph in a Suffolk village.
Michael Lewis, of St Audrys Park Road, in Melton near Woodbridge, was present at the hearing when sentenced at Bury St Edmunds County Court and Family Court on January 10.
Lewis had been charged with speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone, which was caught by a speed detection device.
This was in relation to an offence on May 4 last year on the B1456 in the village of Woolverstone, near Ipswich, in a Volkswagen.
The charges were brought against him by the police chief constable.
Lewis was ordered by magistrates at the court to pay a fine of £250 in the hearing.
He was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £100, as well as costs of £90, meaning he has a total of £440 to pay.
He has also been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.
Lewis' guilty plea was taken into account when sentencing.
