Suffolk drivers have been warned of delays ahead of the Easter getaway, with an estimated 14million journeys set to be made across the country.

The Easter getaway is one of the busiest times of the year on the roads, as people visit family and friends over the four-day weekend. 

It will be no different in Suffolk, with the A14, A12 and A11 likely to see an increase in traffic and more journeys being made. 

According to the RAC, an estimated two million journeys will be made on Thursday ahead of the weekend. 

Good Friday is set to see the worst delays for drivers, as 2.6million trips are made across the country.

An additional 2.3m trips will be made on Saturday and Easter Sunday, while a further 2m journeys will be completed on Easter Monday.

RAC Breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: “With Easter falling earlier than usual at the start of the school holidays, it could be ‘carmageddon’ for holidaymakers.

"Anyone who can delay leaving on Thursday, March 28 until much later in the evening or set off as early as possible on Good Friday is likely to have a better journey than those who travel during the peak periods of the day.

"On every journey there are key pinch points where you can save yourself lots of valuable time if you can get through before everyone else. This will be especially true over the whole Easter holidays as our research shows two-thirds (64%) of drivers will be making a leisure journey on major roads at some point.
