A 33-year-old man from Ipswich has been sentenced to more than nine years behind bars after being found guilty of rape.
Nicholas Ryan, of Defoe Road, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, March 15, after being convicted of two counts of rape and attempted rape of a woman following a four-day trial.
He had previously pleaded not guilty to the offences, which took place over a one-year period.

Ryan was jailed for nine years and six months, with an additional five years on extended licence.
Detective Constable Abygail McEvoy of Suffolk police, who led the investigation, said: “The victim has shown incredible courage and strength throughout the court process.
“I would like to commend her bravery in coming forward and would encourage anyone else who is a victim of sexual abuse or sexual violence to report it to police and seek support from the agencies available.”
