Drivers will be left facing a 10-mile diversion route while a road on the outskirts of Ipswich town centre will be closed.
Bixley Road, between Foxhall Road and Bucklesham Road, will be closed between 8pm and 6am from Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22.
While the road is closed Suffolk Highways will be carrying out urgent works.
According to Suffolk County Council's website, the official diversion is 10 miles long and is expected to take around 20 minutes to complete.
It comes as another busy Ipswich road is closed for roadworks.
Two months of roadworks began in Duke Street, near Ipswich Waterfront, earlier this month.
A signed diversion route is also in place for the road closure.
