The council have approved plans to turn vacant offices in Princes Street into new flats.
A planning application sought permission to turn parts of the upper floors of Giles Place into four one-bed flats.
There are also plans for bins and cycle storage, which will join the existing plans for more than 20 flats at the site.
The offices were previously occupied by Direct Line Group who have now relocated to Crown House.
Ipswich Borough Council approved the application for prior approval for a change of use on Friday, March 1.
The remainder of the floorspace in the building is currently under conversion to form 35 flats.
Although Giles Place is not a listed building, it is next to the Grade II listed Sun Alliance Offices, and close to the Grade I listed Willis Building and Unitarian Meeting House.
The council refused plans for 12 additional flats in the building in December due to the lack of natural light.
Plans were then submitted for four more, and then a separate application for eight more flats.
