Strong winds and stormy weather is set to batter Suffolk which may cause further flooding and disruption. 

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across the whole of Suffolk while a yellow warning for wind is in place for parts of East Suffolk including Ipswich and the coast. 

The warning for rain is in place from 5am until 5pm on Thursday, February 22. 

The warning for wind has been issued for the same day between 8am and 6pm. 

It comes after heavy downpours at the weekend caused travel disruption across the county.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "A band of heavy, squally rain is expected to move eastwards across England on Thursday with gusts of around 50mph in a few places very briefly, as well as some hail and thunder.

"There is a small chance of a broader swathe of very strong winds affecting southern and eastern England with gusts of 60 to 70mph, most likely close to the English Channel and southern North Sea coasts."

There are warnings that heavy rain could lead to further flooding and disruption such as power cuts in some places. 

The Met Office has also warned there is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, costal roads and properties. 

There could be disruption to travel with roads and bridges possibly closed as well as delays on public transport.
