The A14 near Ipswich has reopened in both directions following a police incident.
Officers were called to reports of concern for the safety of a female near Nacton at 11.40am.
A spokeswoman for the police said: "A number of police resources were deployed to the area."
The road was closed between the Copdock Interchange and the Nacton Interchange, including the Orwell Bridge.
The closure of the A14 caused severe delays in Ipswich as traffic was diverted through the town.
The incident was resolved at 4.25pm and the road reopened in both directions.
