Budding young actors in Kesgrave are taking on their school's most ambitious show since the pandemic in School of Rock.
The productions at Kesgrave High School have quickly become a hotly anticipated event in the Ipswich calendar.
This year’s show, based on the Paramount Movie written by Mike White, tells the story of Dewey Finn, an overly enthusiastic guitarist who finds himself thrown out of his band and desperate for work.
Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite private school, Dewey soon embarks on a new mission to put his precocious charge in touch with their inner rock ‘n’ roll animals.
For some of the production's cast, this will be the first time they have picked up an instrument or sung aloud in front of others.
However, their teachers are mightily impressed at how they have risen to the challenge, with this being the largest production the school has stages since Covid.
"This year’s show has been a labour of love from the moment we decided it was the next musical for us, with the amazing talent we have at KHS,” said Head of Drama, Charlie Close.
“The ethos of the Kesgrave High School show has always been about nurturing and stretching our students to build on talent and confidence in performance, which is exactly how we have seen our cast and band flourish over the rehearsal period.
“We are proud and in awe of all of them for their amazing work!"
School of Rock will be running on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.
