Renewed plans have been submitted to the council to install an automated car wash and electric vehicle charging points on a vacant piece of land next to a busy Ipswich roundabout.
Ipswich Borough Council has received plans for the car wash and six charging points for electric cars to be installed on the unused piece of land in Greyfriars Road, next to Cardinal Park and the College Street roundabout, opposite the Novotel.
Plans were submitted for the same development back in June last year, but the council refused the plans in August citing their were concerns about the impact it would have on air quality.
There were concerns as to increased emissions from the amount of additional trips the car wash could see, and with a car arriving every six minutes, there would be a degree of queuing and "engine idling."
The new plans, however, feature a redesigned layout to make 'best use of the limited space'.
An air quality assessment document has been submitted with the plans, in the hope they get approved.
Ipswich Borough Council will discuss the plans in due course.
