Hundreds of homes and businesses were without water due to a burst main.
Anglian Water confirmed on Thursday evening properties were experiencing issues with their supply.
Some homes and businesses had low pressure or no water at all.
The affected area includes the town centre and railway station.
A statement on the Anglian Water website said: "This is being caused by a burst main which is more complicated to fix than we expected.
"We’re working hard to get your water supply back to normal as soon as possible."
The issue is expected to be fixed by 8pm.
