A person has died after being hit by a train, police have confirmed.
Greater Anglia has confirmed that a number of its services between Ipswich and London have been delayed or cancelled.
The rail company said that a person has been hit by a train between Witham and Shenfield.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were called to Chelmsford railway station at about 11.30am on Thursday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner,” the spokesman added.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said disruption is expected until further notice.
