Rail passengers were told not to travel as Greater Anglia suffers from major disruptions earlier today.
Train travel between London Liverpool Street and Ipswich and Norwich were halted due to a major signalling problem, with several Greater Anglia routes from the capital cancelled or delayed.
Passengers were asked 'please do not travel' with rail replacement services operating between Shenfield, Chelmsford and Colchester, as signalling systems between Chelmsford and Ingatestone failed.

Greater Anglia advise customers not to travel unless your journey is absolutely necessary. Tickets dated for Tuesday 2nd January will be valid for travel on Wednesday 3rd January.

The signalling issue has now been fixed and train services are running as normal on the Norwich to London Liverpool Street route.
For any journeys delayed by more than 15 minutes, passengers might be eligible for compensation.
Tickets dated for Tuesday, January 2 will be valid for travel on Wednesday, January 3.
