From the Revolution £2.99 cost-of-living meal to upscale dining at the Salthouse Harbour Hotel, here are some of the best places we ate at in 2023.
1. Bistro on the Quay
It is no surprise that the place was named one of the best restaurants in the UK, as it absolutely deserved it.
Our reviewer enjoyed a mandarin and cranberry gin, king scallops and confit chicken with pepper ketchup, smoked aubergine, charred sweetcorn and crispy Parma ham as a starter, and the lamb rump with quinoa, heritage tomatoes, mint and basil vinaigrette and tender stem as a main.
It scored five out of five, with the attentive staff making the meal one to remember.
2. Good Inside Social
They shared a number of dishes, including truffled potato terrine with parmesan and chives, as well as beetroot and confit garlic hummus with sourdough and almonds, and labneh with salt baked carrots, caraway and pistachios, and enjoyed a crayfish bagel as their main.
The brunch costs £35 per person and is worth every penny, scoring five out of five stars.
3. The Salthouse Harbour Hotel
Not only do diners enjoy a starter, main and dessert as part of the deal, but a cocktail too.
Our reviewer enjoyed the Oak smoked salmon and seafood rillette with pickled cucumber, beef brisket with crispy polenta, confit tomato with red pepper chimichurri, and dark chocolate and peanut mousse with salted caramel, topped off with an Aperol Spritz.
Everything was beautiful, from the quality of the food to the decor of the restaurant.
4. Eastern Spice
Eastern Spice on Woodbridge Road was shortlisted for Britain's Top Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2023.
Our reviewer tried a large chunk of the menu, including the chicken tikka masala and a chicken razzala, a curry made with a thick sauce, mushrooms, fried onions, and tomatoes.
5. Revolution
Our food reviewer was surprised by the quality of the £2.99 cost-of-living meal at Revolution.
A burger with chips costing less than £3 is pretty much unheard of in Suffolk, and while it wasn't the best meal our reviewer had ever tasted, they did believe that it was decent value for money.
Not only was the food cheap, the drinks were too, with alcoholic beverages costing around £2 per bottle.
Four out of five stars were awarded for this meal.
