Film of a hooded man running across Ipswich after a killing in the town centre was shown in a court today.

The footage beginning in the Cornhill traced the path of a man following the stabbing of Raymond James Quigley.

Alfie Hammett, 19, and Joshua Howell, 18, have both been charged with the murder of Mr Quigley, 18, on January 17 in Westgate Street, as well as possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Hammett, of Larkhill Rise, Rushmere St Andrew, and Howell, of Wellington Street, Ipswich, both deny the charges.

The film shown to the jury was of a suspect police have called Male One who the prosecution say is Alfie Hammett.

The prosecution have said Alfie Hammett ran from the scene to where he parked his moped at Bishops Hill and then drove back home to Larkhill Rise and later that evening went to boxing practice.

The moment of Alfie Hammett’s arrest on January 21 was also described in court today as prosecutor Andrew Jackson questioned Detective Constable Samantha Abbott from the Suffolk and Norfolk Major Investigations Team.

The court heard a convoy of police headed to the address and surrounded the property.

Police dogs were barking as loud commands were given for Alfie Hammett to come to the door, it was said.

The court heard the door was opened by Alfie Hammett who came out with his hands raised and was arrested.
