Police have been granted extra time to question three suspects in connection with a murder probe after a newborn baby was found dead in Ipswich.
A number of police vehicles, including forensics vans, were spotted outside Wilbury House in Norwich Road at about 12.35pm on Saturday.
The building was surrounded by emergency services and a large police cordon was put in place around the property.
A murder probe was launched on Saturday after police confirmed they had discovered the body of a newborn baby.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and is under investigation.
On Saturday officers arrested two men and a female on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and remain in police custody.
On Sunday evening, Suffolk police confirmed detectives had applied for a warrant of further detention at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court.
Police have now been granted an extra 21 hours to question the trio.
This is due to expire on Monday evening.
A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death and formal identification procedures will take place in due course.
